LOL. Khloe issued this “statement” on her “blog” addressing why her decision to quit PETA.
Hi dolls. I’m sure you all heard what happened to Kim last week (thank you SO much for the love and support you all showed her), and I just received word that the woman responsible has very close ties to PETA, despite PETA publicly stating otherwise. Not only has PETA lied to the public, but they have proved that they support this kind of behavior. I’ve been a vocal supporter of PETA for a long time but I have also been very vocal about anti-bullying, so this was a huge disappointment for me. As you all know, I don’t condone violence and bullying and what happened last Thursday was just that. I am absolutely disgusted by their behavior. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions — I personally don’t wear fur but that doesn’t mean I am going to force my views on anyone else, ESPECIALLY by violating them. I am a very proud sister right now, because Kim handled last week’s incident like a champ. She got cleaned up and was back out there in a matter of minutes. Go Kimmie!
We all need to practice what we preach. I will still continue to NOT wear fur, but I will no longer support PETA. Bullying and harassment is NEVER a solution, and I won’t be a part of any organization that thinks otherwise.
In a stunt for 92.3′s Rollin’ Radio program, Nick Cannon pretended to attach approximately 50 balloons to co-host Sarah Lee’s Pomeranian, Charlie Roo, on Thursday. Shortly after the incident, Cannon claimed that Charlie Roo had flown away and was missing.
Thankfully, Cannon’s stunt was a hoax. Although Rollin’ Radio’s website said the prank went “a little too far” and pleaded to fans to “help find” Charlie Roo, Cannon released a video explaining that Lee’s puppy was perfectly fine.
“I won a bet with Sarah Lee, and I’m about to play the meanest joke on her ever,” Cannon, 31, explained in a clip shot prior to the incident. “This whole time I’ve been acting like I don’t like dogs, but I really love dogs. I’m a dog person… But I’m pretending that I want to float Charlie Roo with balloons!”
“I’m not really gonna float a dog,” Mariah Carey’s hubby clarified. “I’m gonna float a stuffed animal that looks just like Charlie Roo. If you happen to find the fake Charlie Roo, attached to it, there’ll be some Katy Perry tickets.”
Cannon then tied a small stuffed animal in a pink coat to approximately 50 balloons and videotaped the incident. He then went along with the joke on Twitter, telling fans: “I think I might be getting fired. Radio gone seriously wrong… People are acting like I’m [Michael] Vick. I apologize. Now get over it.”
Fortunately the real Charlie Roo was put in “a nice, safe place,” while the look-alike stuffed animal was flown away. Even before Cannon released a video confirming the incident was a joke and no dogs were endangered, PETA suspected the “America’s Got Talent” host was kidding around.
“If bad taste were a crime, we’d be going to jail with Nick,” the animal rights organization said in a statement. “But joking about killing a dog, a kid, an old person — anyone — isn’t cool when there’s always the danger that some numbskull will do it for real.”
“Had it been true, Nick would have PETA to worry about,” the statement continued. “And that’s far worse than going to Rikers Island [prison].”
Brooke appears inside a cage for the sultry photo shoot which is meant to show her support for PETA’s I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur campaign which the company started years ago to convince people to stop wearing what some people considered a fashion “accessory.”
It turns out that the event which occurred in Wynwood’s Cafeina Lounge wasn’t actually a PETA sponsored-shoot, although the not-for-profit was happy to have her support, telling the HuffPost:
“The photo shoot that Brooke Hogan participated in was not a PETA-sponsored event. However, we’re grateful to Brooke for participating in the photo exhibition in Miami, for which the proceeds of the photos are going toward PETA’s lifesaving programs.”
Photographer Jordan Michael Zuniga put the shoot together and titled it Women in Cages with the intent of raising awareness about animal cruelty.
While Brooke Hogan wasn’t a PETA endorsed member of the program, PETA has attracted many celebrities to the “naked” campaign including Christina Applegate and Elisabetta Canalis.
Speaking to the Miami New Times Brooke Hogan says she hopes the campaign helps raise more awareness, telling them:
“I hope it shocks them to see a human in the place of an ‘animal.’ We’ve almost gotten past the prejudices and racisms among humans alone, next is animals. We’re all God’s creatures. Just because we don’t speak the same language doesn’t mean they don’t have feelings too.”
No comment from Hulk Hogan at this time.
