Remember all the fuss made about Lana Del Rey’s, Jan 15th, 2012 “Saturday Night Live” performance? We were able to watch the performance live and thought. ..’very attractive woman, with a sexy throwback voice and style. Was it perfect, maybe not, but nothing to go crazy over.
So the next day, to our surprise, the whole internet was in an uproar as critics/haters came out of the woodwork to chime in. Actress and musician Juliette Lewis was extremely harsh, (in a since-deleted tweet), “Wow, watching this ‘singer’ on SNL is like watching a 12-year-old in their bedroom when they’re pretending to sing and perform #signofourtimes.”
Not to be outdone, actress Eliza Dushku also chimed in, tweeting, “Who is this wack-a-doodle chick performing on ‘SNL’? Whaaa?”
Hell, even “NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams, called Del Rey’s performance “one of the worst outings in ‘SNL’ history.” Really Brian Williams? REALLY?!!! Did you forget about Ashlee Simpson’s acid reflux, jig and running off the stage performance? …REALY?!!!
Is this what society’s become? Just sitting in front of our computers with twitter open waiting to pounce on any given story, regurgitating blatant statements to embarrass and defame someone’s career? If so, then let’s all stop this so called ‘war on bullying’ and let chips fall where they may. You can’t preach to stop bullying when you in fact use social network as a tool to bully someone you dislike.
Will this hyper, A.D.D inflicted and sheep-like behavior end? Only time will tell. Until then, we’ll be here to keep the balance and give you the REAL Slice.
Check out one of Lana Del Rey’s newest videos exploding on youtube. You be the judge.

ILL MIND OF HOPSIN 5 #hopsin
In an age where Rap and Hip-Hop are easily blamed for all that is wrong with this world, one man known as ‘Hopsin’ rises out of the shadows to spit some knowledge in your kepi. Unlike most positive Hip Hop artist, …we know, sounds like an oxymoron, Hopsin doesn’t kowtow to the masses. He doesn’t care about being politically correct as to not offend the record labels or the Suburban mom shelling out $13.98 at the local Wall-Mart to keep her brood in the know. Hopsin tells it like it is. You might say ‘ILL MIND OF HOPSIN 5 #hopsin’ is sort of a modern day “Scared Straight” tactic. We’ve all seen those guys before, dressed shabbily as they pull up to your local school in an old van that was parked by the river. Before you dismiss this lyrical mastermind as another flash in the pan, we ask you to just sit back and take a listen.
Hopsin has gained high popularity on YouTube, where many of his songs accompanied with music videos are uploaded, most remarkably “Sag My Pants”, uploaded in October 2010, and “Ill Mind of Hopsin 4″, uploaded in July 2011, with the former having over thirteen million views and the latter having just over twelve million (both as of June 2012). On July 18, 2012, his 27th birthday, he released “Ill Mind of Hopsin 5″, which received over 4,000,000 views within 96 hours.
With the release of ILL MIND OF HOPSIN 5 #hopsin, the rise continues.
The singer took to her Facebook page Sunday to detail how she was attacked by a wild sea lion while on a nature tour in Cape Town, South Africa Sunday. The little guy was startled when the 34-year-old star tried to get a closer look and take a photo.
“Suddenly, one of them jumped out of the water so fast and impetuously that it got about one foot away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me,” she wrote. “I was paralyzed by fear and couldn’t move, I just kept eye contact with it while my brother ‘Super Tony’ jumped over me and literally saved my life, taking me away from the beast.”
Now that the Colombian beauty managed to get away pretty unscathed (she said she and her brother have some scrapes from the rocks), she’s taking a perspective like that of a zoologist to explain her rough run-in with wildlife.
“I believe what happened is that it confused the shiny reflection of the BlackBerry I was taking these pics with, with some sort of fish. It probably thought I was teasing it with food and then taking it away from it,” Shakira wrote.
But as it turns out, one sea lion isn’t going to prevent the star from enjoying the rest of her vacation.
“Today with the penguins! Definitely friendlier!” the star posted later that day with a pic of her sitting amongst a few of hew new winged friends.
Whitney Houston, who ruled as pop music’s queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.
Houston’s publicist, Kristen Foster, said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.
News of Houston’s death came on the eve of music’s biggest night — the Grammy Awards. It’s a showcase where she once reigned, and her death was sure to case a heavy pall on Sunday’s ceremony. Houston’s longtime mentor Clive Davis was to hold his annual concert and dinner Saturday; it was unclear if it was going to go forward.
At her peak, Houston the golden girl of the music industry. From the middle 1980s to the late 1990s, she was one of the world’s best-selling artists. She wowed audiences with effortless, powerful, and peerless vocals that were rooted in the black church but made palatable to the masses with a pop sheen.
Her success carried her beyond music to movies, where she starred in hits like “The Bodyguard” and “Waiting to Exhale.”
She had the he perfect voice, and the perfect image: a gorgeous singer who had sex appeal but was never overtly sexual, who maintained perfect poise.
She influenced a generation of younger singers, from Christina Aguilera to Mariah Carey, who when she first came out sounded so much like Houston that many thought it was Houston.
But by the end of her career, Houston became a stunning cautionary tale of the toll of drug use. Her album sales plummeted and the hits stopped coming; her once serene image was shattered by a wild demeanor and bizarre public appearances. She confessed to abusing cocaine, marijuana and pills, and her once pristine voice became raspy and hoarse, unable to hit the high notes as she had during her prime.
“The biggest devil is me. I’m either my best friend or my worst enemy,” Houston told ABC’s Diane Sawyer in an infamous 2002 interview with then-husband Brown by her side.
It was a tragic fall for a superstar who was one of the top-selling artists in pop music history, with more than 55 million records sold in the United States alone.
She seemed to be born into greatness. She was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, the cousin of 1960s pop diva Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin.
Houston first started singing in the church as a child. In her teens, she sang backup for Chaka Khan, Jermaine Jackson and others, in addition to modeling. It was around that time when music mogul Clive Davis first heard Houston perform.
“The time that I first saw her singing in her mother’s act in a club … it was such a stunning impact,” Davis told “Good Morning America.”
“To hear this young girl breathe such fire into this song. I mean, it really sent the proverbial tingles up my spine,” he added.
Before long, the rest of the country would feel it, too. Houston made her album debut in 1985 with “Whitney Houston,” which sold millions and spawned hit after hit. “Saving All My Love for You” brought her her first Grammy, for best female pop vocal. “How Will I Know,” ”You Give Good Love” and “The Greatest Love of All” also became hit singles.
Another multiplatinum album, “Whitney,” came out in 1987 and included hits like “Where Do Broken Hearts Go” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”
“I’m involved in my products every step of the way. My fragrances are doing really well at the moment,” Hilton tells FHM UK’s January issue. “They’ve produced more than $1.3 billion in revenue since 2005.”
“I have 35 stores and 17 product lines. And then there’s my racing team, my 14 fragrances and my new project, the Paris Hilton Beach Club chain. The first one is opening in the Philippines soon. It’s going to have nightclubs, restaurants, bars, gyms. Everything really.”
Hilton, who’s currently dating Dutch DJ and music producer Afrojack, also plans to release a follow-up to her 2006 debut album, despite dismal record sales.
“I have a huge passion for house music,” Hilton tells FHM UK. “I just haven’t been able to focus on it, because I have been doing reality TV for so long now. I’ve been working on the album with lots of other top DJs for a while now and I think people will be really surprised. It’s very modern and very catchy; perfect party music.”
“There are just so many great DJs right now,” Hilton adds. “And I should know — I’ve been to over 100 raves in the past year, so I’ve heard every type of music.”
Adele is back to work. The 23-year-old singer underwent throat surgery late last month, but in a photo tweeted Wednesday, she let fans know she is “back on the grind!” (Doctors performed microsurgery to repair recurrent bleeding in her vocal cords from a benign polyp. She’s expected to make a full recovery.)
“Hair and makeup did,” she quipped, holding up her hands in the picture to showcase her slim, flawless face. “Merry Christmas!”
A source tells Us Weekly the Grammy winner is “in a great place at the moment. … She recently started some basic vocal training [but] she’s taking it slowly.”
“She has time off in her schedule for much of the first quarter of 2012,” the source adds. “Depending on how her voice builds back up, [she might go] to this medical vocal academy in Seoul. It sounds extreme, but she wouldn’t be the first artist to go there after removing polyps.”
This Christmas, Adele is spending the holiday “with her mum,” says a source. “She’s not going out raving or drinking. It’s going to be really quiet.”
Although some have speculated Adele will perform at the 2012 Grammys in February, a source says she “wants to keep a low profile. … She’s hoping the first half of next year can be pretty low-key: no concerts, TV shows, magazine interviews, music or anything like that. As she puts it, she wants to just take it easy and enjoy a well-deserved break, with no pressure to record or perform.”
Matthew and Tina Knowles’ divorce was finalized last month in a Texas court, according to documents obtained by TMZ. Tina, 57, filed for divorce from manager Matthew, 60, in 2009.
According to TMZ, Tina declared the marriage fell apart because of “discord or conflict of personalities” that “prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”
According to E! News, which also confirmed the story, the divorce was finalized on Nov. 11, with both a judgment agreed upon and an order signed.
The duo married in 1980 and are parents to Beyonce, 30, and Solange, 25. Solange has a 7-year-old son, Julez, and Beyonce and Jay-Z are expecting a daughter in early 2012.
Tina works as a stylist and co-created the House of Dereon clothing label with Beyonce. Matthew served as the manager of Destiny’s Child and then Beyonce’s manager until March, when the father and daughter ended their professional relationship.
This time last year Demi Lovato had—it’s hard to believe—checked into a treatment center to get help for her struggles with bulimia, anorexia and self-injury. And instead of the usual celebrity tactic (deny, deny, deny), Lovato has taken a much braver route: going public about her self-described meltdown and the childhood bullying she’s talked openly about, all in an effort to help other young women and girls. This winter Lovato embarks on a world tour for her perfectly named album Unbroken.
Part Chris Brown, part Justin Bieber and absolutely nothing original: LAslice is taking bets that this guy will enter the roaster of current no-talent hacks that are incredibly popular.
The rocker was taken to the emergency room in Asuncion on Tuesday after slipping in the shower and cutting his face. He also received dental implants for two teeth lost in the accident.
Tyler spent three hours under the care of doctors before returning to his hotel to recover, according to an ABC report.
An Aerosmith concert planned for Tuesday was postponed by one day.
The news has left fans more than a little concerned because Tyler underwent a rehab stint in late 2009 for pain management.
The last time he took a tumble — from a stage in South Dakota — the band was forced to scrap a 2009 summer tour. He later quit the band to pursue a solo career.
