A new series in the works at TLC will follow a formula similar to that of “Toddlers & Tiaras,” but this time the content may have more in common with “Riverdance,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show, with the working title “Irish Dancing Tweens,” examines the world of competitive Irish jig dancing, the story reports.

Said Amy Winter, TLC general manager: “Irish jig dancing is a global phenomenon and the series will reveal the world behind the sport in a compelling combination of heart and competition.”

The story notes that the cable channel has already followed the strategy of exposing unique subcultures in shows such as “Say Yes to the Dress,” “All-American Muslim” and “Little People, Big World.”

Production on “Tweens” reportedly starts this week, with eight episodes ordered for summer 2012.
